Overview

XTB was founded in Poland in 2002 and has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016. It has grown into one of Europe's largest listed retail brokers by clients, with branches in countries including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania.

Which entity serves you

Most EU residents are served by XTB S.A., supervised by the Polish KNF, often through a local branch. That gives you ESMA protections and the Polish KDPW compensation scheme. UK clients deal with XTB Limited (FCA), and some international clients are served by a Belize entity – EU residents should make sure they are with the EU company.

Platform and products

xStation (web, desktop and mobile) combines charting, a trade calculator, market sentiment, news and an extensive education library. Products include CFDs on forex, indices, commodities and shares, plus real shares and ETFs. Investment plans let you build automatic ETF portfolios, and XTB pays interest on uninvested cash in some currencies.

Costs

Real shares and ETFs are commission-free up to a monthly turnover threshold, above which a commission applies. Forex and index CFDs are priced through spreads. Watch currency conversion fees if your account currency differs from the instrument's.

Our view

XTB combines an EU headquarters, public listing and a broad offer for both traders and investors, which is reflected in its Protection Score. It is one of the more complete choices for European residents who want both CFDs and long-term investing in one app.

Licences on record

Brands often operate several companies. The one that onboards you depends on where you live, and that company's regulator decides your protection. Confirm the entity on the official register before you deposit.

Verify XTB yourself

  1. Find the exact company name in the footer of the website and in the client agreement you are asked to sign.
  2. Search that name on the register of the regulator listed for your country (links above). Make sure the register shows the same website domain.
  3. Check warning lists for look-alike names: IOSCO I-SCAN covers alerts from regulators worldwide.
  4. Never download remote-access software or move money because someone "from the broker" phoned you. How clone-firm scams work.
