Forex market hours in your time zone
Live forex market hours converted to your European time zone, with session overlaps and daylight-saving changes handled automatically.
Sessions use 08:00–17:00 local business hours in each financial centre, with daylight saving applied automatically. Green = open now. The red line is the current time.
When is the forex market open in Europe?
The currency market trades 24 hours a day from Sunday evening to Friday evening. By market convention the trading week opens at 17:00 New York time on Sunday and closes at 17:00 New York time on Friday. In Central European Time that is usually 23:00 on Sunday to 23:00 on Friday, but for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap between US and European daylight-saving dates shifts it by an hour. The tool above handles that for you.
The sessions that matter for European traders
- London (roughly 09:00–18:00 CET): the largest FX centre. According to the Bank for International Settlements' 2025 Triennial Survey the UK remains the biggest trading hub, and most EUR and GBP liquidity sits here.
- London–New York overlap (about 14:00–18:00 CET): typically the most active part of the day for EUR/USD and GBP/USD, and when major US data (payrolls, CPI) is released at 14:30 CET.
- Asian session (overnight in Europe): quieter for EUR pairs, more active for JPY, AUD and NZD. Spreads on euro crosses are often wider.
Why the time of day affects your costs
Spreads widen when liquidity is thin: around the daily rollover at 17:00 New York time (23:00 CET), in the first hour after the Sunday open, and on public holidays such as Christmas and New Year. Index CFDs follow the hours of their underlying exchange, so the Germany 40 is most liquid while Xetra is open (09:00–17:30 CET). Plan entries and stop-losses with that in mind.
