Overview
XM is the retail brand of the Trading Point group, founded in 2009 in Cyprus. It is one of the best-known MetaTrader brokers worldwide.
Which entity serves you
EU residents are served by Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd, licensed by CySEC. The group's global brand "XM Global" is operated by a Belize-licensed company that does not apply ESMA protections. If you live in the EU and see offers of very high leverage or bonuses, you are looking at the global entity.
Platforms and products
MetaTrader 4 and 5 on desktop, web and mobile, plus its own app, with CFDs on forex, indices, commodities, shares and crypto.
Our view
A mainstream choice for MetaTrader users as long as you are with the CySEC entity. Our older site linked to XM's affiliate programme; this profile replaces that page.
Licences on record
Brands often operate several companies. The one that onboards you depends on where you live, and that company's regulator decides your protection. Confirm the entity on the official register before you deposit.
| Regulator | Jurisdiction | Type | Check it |
|---|---|---|---|
| CySEC Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission | EU/EEA – passportable | Official register | |
| ASIC Australian Securities and Investments Commission | Non-European | Regulator website | |
| DFSA (Dubai) Dubai Financial Services Authority | Non-European | Regulator website | |
| FSC Belize Financial Services Commission (Belize) | Offshore | Regulator website |

Verify XM yourself
- Find the exact company name in the footer of the website and in the client agreement you are asked to sign.
- Search that name on the register of the regulator listed for your country (links above). Make sure the register shows the same website domain.
- Check warning lists for look-alike names: IOSCO I-SCAN covers alerts from regulators worldwide.
- Never download remote-access software or move money because someone "from the broker" phoned you. How clone-firm scams work.
Protection Score breakdown
