Luxembourg's financial regulator

The Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier supervises banks, investment firms, payment institutions, funds and, under MiCA, crypto-asset service providers. It publishes an entity search and one of the most extensive lists of warnings about fraudulent websites and clones in Europe.

Why it matters beyond Luxembourg

Several international groups serve EU clients from Luxembourg, including ActivTrades Europe, Swissquote Bank Europe and WH SelfInvest, and crypto platforms such as Coinbase and Bitstamp hold MiCA licences issued in Luxembourg. Luxembourg is also the EU's largest fund centre, so many ETFs and funds sold across Europe are CSSF-supervised.
